Is the JDF Tier 1 tryout a separate tryout from our JDF Representative (Rep) team tryouts?

Yes, the Tier 1 team tryout is completely separate from our regular JDF Rep tryouts.

Is there an additional cost for my child to tryout for the Tier 1 team?

Yes, there is a fee, it has yet to be determined at this time.

Who is eligible to tryout for the Tier 1 team being hosted at JDF?

The Tier 1 team tryouts are open to players from JDF, Kerry Park, Sooke, and Victoria hockey associations.

When are the Tier 1 Tryouts?

Tier 1 tryout dates will be held starting August 17th, 2019

If my child does not tryout for a Tier 1 team will it impact their opportunity to tryout for a JDF representative team?

No, the Tier 1 Team tryouts are completely separate from JDF Rep tryouts.

JDF Rep tryouts shall be held between August 24th to the 30th. Players attending this tryout session will be competing for a spot on one of our JDF only Rep teams.

When does the Tier 1 team tryout start?

Midget start date to be determined based on JR A/B camp dates

Many midget aged players are not available to tryout due to Junior A, Junior B, and Major Midget camps running at the same time.

Will first year Bantam players have to take a mandatory checking clinic

Yes, absolutely all first year bantam players must attend the on ice checking clinic to be eligible to play in the inter squad games.

Checking clinic will be posted once the date is finalized, and is a 2 hour on ice session - which is mandatory for all first year Bantam players and second year Bantam players that have not previously attended one.

What happens if a first year bantam player cannot attend the mandatory checking clinic?

Unfortunately the player will not be eligible to continue with the tryout process

When are Atom Development Tryouts?

Tryouts will start after the labor day long weekend

Back to ice sessions will be offered beforehand, your division manager will communicate dates and times

Players from Kerry Park, Sooke must complete the request form ABOVE and submit to Juan de Fuca Minor Hockey Association.

All players intending on trying out must be registered by July 15, 2019

Application Fees are $125.00, payment must be received by July 15th, 2019 via etransfer or visa, cheques can be dropped off to the JDFMHA office.
